movie set elements for king kong

'historically accurate props'

All four members of Izzat worked together in the hero prop shop for the production company, ‘Big Primate Ltd’, on the feature film remake of Peter Jackson’s King Kong.

All the street furniture, from six meter tall Bishop’s crook lamppost’s, to manhole covers in the street, needed to be recreated for the 'streets of New York' scenes.

Historic accuracy was crucial when creating these props, as they did actually exist in the 1930’s. Attention to detail went right down to the car license plates, of which 70 pairs of unique plates had to be cast as cost effectively and quickly as possible. Each license plate number had to get approval by the production company, for authenticity of time and location.

Between the four of us, we produced almost all the lights for the film, from Art Deco wall lamps in the Empire State Building to the massive exterior wall sconces for Macy’s department store.
