'cast in a rigid urethane'

An advertising company producing a television commercial in Oamaru required a large-scale replica of an antique light switch pull chain. The ‘pull chain’, hanging from a crane had to be strong enough to hold ten peoples weight suspended off the ground.

Each ball is approximately 200mm in diameter, with the bell at the bottom nearly 1m in height. We moulded a round ball that we then cast directly onto the central wire cable. The bell-end, we firmly attached to the cable before we gave the whole assembly an antique paint finish.
